This locality southwest of Leudersdorf lies on the northwest flank of the Hillesheimer Kalkmulde. This is one of 10 limestone troughs in the Eifel that form in a zone running from north to south, the so-called Eifeler-Nord-Süd-Zone.
The folded middle and upper Devonian rock layers of the Eifelkalkmulden emerged from flat, calcareous precipitations and deposits of the Devon Sea.
You can get more information at this great rest area with a very nice view on the Geo-Path Hillesheim.
