I now know this one and several in Heidelberg. However, they are not as big in Europe as they are in North America.

The giant sequoias (Sequoioideae) are a subfamily of the cypress family (Cupressaceae). This subfamily currently only includes three monotypic genera, i.e. each consists of one living species. However, numerous other species have been preserved in fossil form.
The giant sequoias Sequoiadendron giganteum of the genus Sequoiadendron are pyrophytes; their thick, fibrous bark protects them from forest fires, which can often occur in the dry forests of the Sierra Nevada in the western USA.
Since the middle of the 19th century, these trees have also been planted as (rare) park trees in Central Europe, mostly in spacious English landscape gardens.

There are sequoia trees in several places in Löwenstein, and this one near Löwenstein Castle is a particularly fascinating example.
