The small church is picturesquely in the middle of a large tree population. It was first mentioned in 1617 in a letter from the Bishop of Roermond. In 1671/72 the chapel, which only consists of today's prayer room, was expanded to include the chancel. Members of the von Schaesberg family, clergymen and residents brought her such high income that a church rectorate at the chapel could be paid for. This is proven until 1836.
