The mighty Kreuzberg, a 38-meter-high rock made of rose quartz, is one of Bavaria's 100 most beautiful geotopes. This "quartz reef" is the remnant of a formerly large zoned pegmatite stick. Weathering has extracted millions of hard quartz millions of years into a fascinating example of geological formations. At no other location in the near or distant surroundings is a similar residual pegmatite known or accessible.
