Statua dell’Immacolata / the Immaculate Conception
In Squillace, the restoration of the memorial column with the statue of the Immaculate Madonna in Piazza Vescovado has started.
Indeed, the column showed obvious signs of deterioration due to the peeling of cement, and for this reason the city council, with the appointment of the head of the technical sector of the municipality, arch. Antonio Macaluso, prepared the restoration work.
The pillar was built by the community and blessed on December 8, 1954, on the occasion of the centenary of the recognition of dogma, which took place in 1854. Also in 1954, the then bishop Mons. Armando Fares dedicated the city of Squillace to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. (rcz)
