Chiesa di Santa Barbara. / Saint Barbara Church.
The first files on the construction of the Amaroni Church date from 1793 and are deposited in the Catanzaro State Archives; These are mainly letters to the Council of Catanzaro asking for the necessary funds to rebuild the Mother Church, which was destroyed by the earthquake of March 28, 1783. The first letter comes from six years after the destruction, on June 6th 1789 to be precise, a time when a wooden hut was built for the population on the ruins of the religious building, thanks to the Amaronesi, who did not work with the money provided, Could provide tools and material. It was the citizens themselves who began rebuilding the church after a project they bought themselves; In the meantime, the population repeatedly called for the intervention of Ing.Claudio Rocchi, who arrived in Amaroni in October 1790. In a document signed by the Mayor of Amaroni at the time, Vito Muzzì, the notary Nicola Muzzì and the bursary Fra Tommaso D 'Amarone show the initial costs of the reconstruction.
In a letter of 1791, the Council of Catanzaro is informed that the central door, the small doors and the frontispiece were carved by the masters Laurenzio and Nunzio di Serra.
