    Chiesa di San Leonardo, Borgia
In the historic center of Borgia, along Corso Mazzini, we find the Church of San Leonardo, a fine example of Romanesque architecture. The building of unknown origin was fully restored after 1783, the year of the earthquake that devastated the entire city of Borgia. The church was adapted at the beginning of the last century, but has received the single-nave floor plan with a gable facade: This is characterized by a large triangular gable, which is underlined by a double cornice, two pilasters in the Doric style and a pointed arch portal in which the polished stone tracing the perimeter of the door itself. On top of it, right in the middle of the facade, is the niche with the statue of St. Leonhard. The bell tower at the back of the building still houses two bells that replace the bells cast during the fascist regime to mark Italy's participation in World War II. A particularly interesting bell is still preserved inside and is believed to have come from the ruined Church of San Leonardo before the earthquake of the late eighteenth century. However, the most interesting artistic works are of a pictorial nature: among these we point out the two canvases by the local artist of international fame Ugo Ortona, who was very active in the first half of the last century, and Giuseppe Rocca.
