The Kronenburg fell into disrepair in the middle of the 18th century. The Kronenburg Castle House was built in 1766 to administer the lands and ironworks that belonged to the Kronenburg lordship. The castle house was sold privately during the French period. It is the nucleus of tourism in the Upper Kylltal, since the well-known Nettchen Faymonville accommodated the first holiday guests in the castle house at the beginning of the 20th century.
