In a major fire on October 8, 1796, the church burned down. The foundation stone for the current wooden church was laid on June 5, 1809, in the same location, and the church was consecrated on November 10, 1811. In the meantime, services were held in the Ludwiger Zechenhaus[2][3]. From the hipped roof of the nave rises a six-sided steeple in the west, which is covered by a bell-shaped dome. Since 1813, only a striking bell has hung in it.

The Protestant St. Martin's Church in St. Andreasberg was built in the classicist style between 1809 and 1811. It replaced the St. Trinity Church, which was completely destroyed in the devastating city fire of 1796. The new church was inaugurated on November 10th - St. Martin's Day - and was named after this saint. The bell tower of the St. Martin's Church stands a little way from the building on the Glockenberg and is the landmark of St. Andreasberg.

In Sankt Andreasberg, the main church is the Protestant Martini Church (St. Martini), located on the church square. Formerly the site of the Trinity Church (Dreifaltigkeitskirche), which was destroyed by fire in 1796, its bell tower is now the town's most famous landmark. The current church is the Martini Church. There is also a Roman Catholic parish in the town.
