Remains of the last two blast furnaces of the Maxhütte Unterwellenborn, which went into operation in 1872 (raw and cast iron production and its further processing in the steel and rolling mill), a branch of the Maximilianshütte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg. The 120-year history of pig iron production in Unterwellenborn ended with the last tapping on July 10, 1992. The successor to Maxhütte is the Thuringia steelworks, which went into operation as an electric steelworks in 1995.
