There are four islands (or stacks) of the Cyclops: Lachea, Faraglione Grande, Faraglione di Mezzo and the Faraglione degli Uccelli. The archipelago owes its name to a passage from the Odyssey, when Polyphemus threw stones at Ulysses; they stuck in the ground and gave life to the stacks.
