In the 2000s, fragments of the city walls were reconstructed and rehabilitated, including the area to the north-west in the Cathedral area. Between 2018 and 2020, the surviving masonry on the north-east side at Plac Mikołaja Kopernika (Opole) was renovated, including the remains of the Upper Castle.
