The western shore of Lake Achensee was only accessible in a few places from the Gaisalm to the Seewinkel (the northern end). Only experienced rock climbers could cross these places. In 1886, Dr. F. Ohlenschlager had a path built between the two points mentioned and improved it in 1887 so that it was now possible to climb up and down the rocks moderately and thus get from the Seewinkel to the Gaisalm. With the help of the path, it has been possible to walk around the entire Lake Achensee since then.
