Romantic center in the main town of the Appenzeller Land, which is also the namesake for the world-famous cheese. This is where the ascents from the Rhine Valley via Gais Eggerstanden meet. For traffic reasons, the route via Eggerstanden should definitely be chosen here. There is also a small, partly even car-free road to Kobelwald. If you want to explore the Appenzell region, you can reach one of the most famous climbs in north-eastern Switzerland - the Schwägalp on the Säntis - via Urnäsch.
