Point India P21 Premium hiking trail: A route that alternates between short forest stretches and always open land, allows for many, wide views. The natural area offers geological and botanical peculiarities; on the Kahler Berg near Ifta, a nutrient-poor Keuper hill, you can only find undemanding herbs and grasses that have become very rare today. You will find a retreat room here. This premium path is culturally and historically exciting, as it also leads over the former zone border and border fortifications can also be experienced here. The Point India observation tower on the Sohlberg gives it its name. It is the relic of a large US military base (OP-India), built in 1984. Near Ifta there is still an observation tower of the former GDR border troops, which was also used as a command post during escape attempts.
