In the course of the French July Revolution of 1830, under King Ludwig I, there were repressions against free and nationally minded citizens, especially students. The press was subjected to censorship and undesirable activists were expelled from the country. Pistor became a member of the German Press and Fatherland Association, whose leading figures were the publicists Philipp Jakob Siebenpfeiffer and Georg August Wirth. He published radical democratic writings and rose to become secretary in the association. At the Hambach Festival, Pistor gave a highly revolutionary speech, which was not transcribed out of prudence towards the authorities and was therefore made inaccessible to the public.

Since he was about to be arrested, Pistor fled to France. However, a court sentenced him in absentia to one year in prison. He was also convicted of high treason in another court hearing based on his revolutionary writings. From his exile in Paris, Pistor fought with other German emigrants against the rule of the Bavarian nobility, including in the "League of Outlaws". A request for pardon by Pistor was rejected by the Bavarian king. In the revolution of 1848/49 Pistor was active as a member of the Democratic Left and acted for them as a public speaker. After the failure of the revolution, he retired from politics.

        Daniel Friedrich Ludwig Pistor
        (* June 29, 1807 in Bergzabern, † August 7, 1886 in Bergzabern)
was a German lawyer, fraternity member, and revolutionary.

Pistor came from a respected middle-class family from Bergzabern.

His father was a member of the city council and, in 1808/09, also the city's mayor.

After graduating from high school in 1826, Daniel Friedrich Ludwig Pistor studied law at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

During his studies, he became a member of the Old Heidelberg fraternity / Fäßlianer in 1829. In Munich, he also joined the fraternity Markomannia in 1829. After falling out with his fellow students, he left and founded the new fraternity "Germania."

Pistor moved to Heidelberg in 1829 and participated in the founding of another fraternity, "Frankonia."
In 1831, he received his doctorate in law from Munich.
Pistor died in 1886; his grave is in the Bergzabern cemetery.
