The observation tower on Velký Chlum (508 m) was built to replace a wooden tower that was on Malý Chlum. It is a 16 m high stone tower with a view of the town of Děčín, the Děčín basin and part of the Central Bohemian Uplands.

"From this stone observation tower you have a view of Děčín and the Elbe valley, the Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland (somewhat restricted by vegetation) and the Bohemian Central Mountains.
The 16 m high tower was opened in 1930. After the war it served as a broadcasting tower. Since 1997 it has been open to the public again." (Euroregion Elbe/Labe)
