The church of Dagersbach, the angel church dedicated to the angels, was located near the needle on today's Philosophenweg. The church can still be seen intact on old views from the early 17th century. It was probably part of a pilgrimage path from the Neckar valley to the monasteries on the Heiligenberg. After the Thirty Years' War the church was a home for the poor. Jews who spent the night there gave their name to the neighboring piece of woodland, the Judenhütte. In 1810 the Holzlipsbande used the church as a robber camp. When the Philosophenweg was expanded in 1840, structural remains of the church were used as building material. Parts of the church walls with a fountain room from 1571 were preserved as the property boundary to the Philosophenweg. A memorial stone for the Engelskirche was erected in 1993 at the Hölderlin site on the Philosophenweg on the site of the former Dagersbach cemetery.
