At the Obermaubach reservoir, there is a wayside shrine in honor of Saint Jude Thaddeus (not to be confused with Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus). Below the niche for the saint's figure, there is an inscription with the plea "Ora pro nobis" ("Pray for us").

The chapel is located in Straeten, a village in the municipality of Heinsberg in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a rural location near other small religious sites such as a church and a cemetery.
