The Peace Bell on Burgplatz in the small town of Crivitz in northern Germany commemorates the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is part of the worldwide program "Mayors for peace" and stands in the tradition of the world peace bells. The Crivitzer bell was inaugurated on August 8, 2020 after much planning and is now struck annually on August 6, the anniversary of the atomic bombing, as well as on New Year's Day and on special occasions.
