This chapel, a piece of a rampart and an archway is all that remains of the former castle. But you can see which towns the early castle builders were looking for. At this castle hill 180° were protected by a steeply sloping hill.

Hiking

This is the last remnant of the Pienzenau castle on Wildenholzen. The Pienzenau were an extremely powerful and wealthy noble family, mentioned in a document almost a thousand years ago. The interesting story is written down in a fine brochure, written by Hans Huber and can be purchased in the castle chapel.
