The Chapelle de l'Etang (in German Weiherkapelle) was probably built around 1515. even if you can read the date 1698 on the lintel. It was located on a lake, which was drained in 1840.

Particularly remarkable are the stained-glass windows, which lend the very simple structure Atmophäre.

Small unassuming chapel but the stained glass windows are beautiful. Especially from the inside when the sun shines through.

        Chapel of the Pond (1698)

This chapel, consecrated on July 13, 1515, is one of the oldest buildings in the town. The difference in height between the entrance and the roadway is due to the successive embankments of the old city walls. The chapel was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, rebuilt in 1698, and damaged during World War II. Services were prohibited there for 15 years. A plaque commemorates those who died during the liberation of Bitche in 1944-1945.
