Originally a Benedictine abbey, Marcilhac did not survive the wars of religion and the French Revolution.
Half of the old monastery church is now used as a parish church, where you will find a colorfully painted statue of Saint James. The other half - in Romanesque architectural style - is in ruins. In recent years the church has undergone an impressive renovation in the choir area, which alone is worth a visit to this impressive church.
