These later became robber barons who built castles in the rock walls of the Célé valley, which were only a few meters deep but up to 90 meters wide. Even today, these castles are only accessible by narrow rocky paths. There are castles in Espagnac and Vers.
The largest English castle was built in the rock faces of Cabrerets.
