The glassworks started operations in 1890. Almost completely destroyed in WWII, the VEB Stralauer Glaswerke brought new life to the building. Wine and champagne bottles were produced here for export, but also seltzer bottles for the GDR's own needs.
1997 ended again, but a few years ago the building was renovated and apartments were built. Downstairs is a hair salon :-)

The Stralau glassworks was founded in 1890 as the Stralauer Flaschenfabrik by the merchants Evert and Neumann. In February 1945, 70% of the factory was destroyed. The VEB Stralauer Glaswerke mainly produced beer and soda bottles as well as wine and champagne bottles for the GDR but also for export. In 1990 the Nienburger Glaswerke took over the business.
The Stralauer glassworks ceased operations in 1997.
