The Odinsloch also offers a very good opportunity for observation as a breeding ground for terns and seagulls (right on the path). At the Odinsloch, south of the Nordermeldorf bathing area, ditches have been expanded to form water areas and breeding islands have been installed. These are wading areas for waders. During the severe drought in summer 2018, even this water area dried up completely. This poses the risk of foxes and other birds plundering the nests. In July 2019, the fire brigade pumped water from the Miele reservoir into the Odinsloch to prevent this. The meadows are used as breeding grounds by various meadow breeders and in winter by Nordic geese as a resting and wintering area. They also serve as hunting grounds for some rare birds of prey, such as the Montagu's harrier.
