Hope Cross lies at the crossroads of ancient packhorse routes through the Peak District, ands it's surrounded by beautiful views down into the Valley. You'll find it's a lovely wide open track with spectacular views.

This marks such a pivotal point in the Derwent / Hope valley trails. You will either go down the Beast, Potato alley, Jagger's Clough or the To an road to Hope. 🤯 Whichever, aceness awaits.

There are some great descents around here. The beast being the most technical. Jaggers Clough takes you towards Edale and is fast and fun but watch out for sheep.

Few decisions to make when you’re here depending which direction you came. Down Jaggers Clough, Potato Alley, The Beast, or head across the Roman Road to Hope or Aston. Either way you won’t be disappointed with the riding. Loose and rocky or grassy and slidey. Winner winner.

Classic peak district views and riding!

In January 2012 the top stone "went missing" leaving just the mounting spike sticking up out of the pillar (see my photos). It was found on 01st February in a passing place near Bradwell and refitted by the National Trust.
