Originally a limestone quarry for the Göschwitz-based cement factory (until 1967), the site subsequently served as a training ground for combat groups, police, and the GST (German Special Forces). The foundations of the quarry, which were used to transport the crushed stone by cable car down to the cement factory in the valley below, are still visible from the firing range era. Remains of the firing range infrastructure (dividing lines between the lanes, tunnels for target guidance) and (barbed wire) fences have been preserved from the firing range era.

From 1886 to 1967 the quarry was used to quarry limestone. The stone was transported by cable car to the Göschwitz cement works, formerly Prüssing cement works.
Above and on the site, hiking trails lead there and through. You can also travel safely on the site by bike.
