The castle has stood for about 1,000 years, long serving as an impregnable fortress on the Aa River, surrounded by marshes. From the castle, you can take beautiful walks through the woods, lanes, and fields of the estate. The castle moat is home to castle carp and black swans. The kingfisher is also a regular visitor.
