Through the gutter house runs the Rinnepassage, in the passage are numerous shops and in the adjacent Rinnehof the restaurant "BRASSERIE im Rinnehof".

"This house was built around 1620 by Prof. Dr. Andreas Cludius.
The English Court, where Heinrich Heine stayed on his journey to the Harz Mountains in 1824, was later located here."

On the north side of Osterode's market square, the Kornmarkt, stands one of the city's most impressive half-timbered houses. It was built in 1610 for the lawyer
Prof. Andreas Cludius, whose crests and the figures of "Justitiar"
and "Clementia" above the archway still commemorate him today.
The large, four-story town house features stone lower floors, a unique feature for a historic residential building. The round-arched portal
and the window surrounds are decorated with elaborate late Renaissance stonework. The impressive dimensions and, above all, the height of the house immediately catch the eye when looking
over the Kornmarkt. The upper floors, with their simple half-timbering but striking green windows and reddish-brown beams, are a true gem on Osterode's market square and thus a popular photo subject.
