On the southern slope of the Hohentwiel you will find the highest vineyard in Germany, where Baden wine thrives up to around 560 metres above sea level, spoiled by the sun. When the weather is good you can see far into Switzerland.

"The Hohentwiel is a 696 meter high mountain northwest of Lake Constance in the south of Baden-Württemberg. The Hohentwiel fortress ruins are located on the mountain. A special feature is the highest vineyard in Germany. The single location Olgaberg (Lake Constance area) in the Baden growing region is probably named after the Russian Tsar's daughter Olga Nikolajewna Romanowa (1822-1892), the later wife of the Württemberg King Karl I (1823-1891). The terraced vineyard facing southeast to southwest at up to 560 meters above sea level with a slope of 15 to 65% covers seven hectares of vineyards. The soil consists of porphyritic volcanic weathering rock with some tuff. Pinot Noir, for example, is cultivated here. The location is the sole property of the Meersburg State Winery." Since January 2018, organic viticulture has been practiced at Olgaberg with the grape varieties Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
