The seated fisherman is one of the newest sculptures in the small Schlei town of Kappeln. It is located in Kappeln at the harbor, right next to the new bascule bridge on the Angeln side. In addition to the sculpture, there are also plenty of places to sit after a long stroll through the town. The fisherman immediately catches your eye if you are near the Schlei bridge.

The bronze sculpture was ceremoniously inaugurated on April 12, 2003. It depicts a seated fisherman with his catch, in this case herrings, very typical for Kappeln, lying in a box next to him. At first it was nameless or was referred to as art at the harbor, but it has since been named "Seated Fisherman". It is a gift from the Rotary Club Kappeln to the town of Kappeln and thus also to all residents and visitors to the town of Kappeln. "The Fisherman" was unveiled by the artist himself and the Rotary founding member Heinz Hardler.

      Bronze figure by Jörg Plickat.
It used to be a common sight, but today the bronze figure is a popular photo motif: the fisherman with a pipe in his mouth and a box of fish next to him sits relaxed on a stone staircase in Kappeln harbor. The seated fisherman was inaugurated on April 12, 2003 at the newly designed Kappeln harbor.

The fisherman is a popular photo motif at the bridge. And for two years he has also had a wife who is standing on the other side of the Schlei and is already waving the frying pan and waiting for the fish for lunch.
