Beacon tower of Arab origin, which according to legend was built in one night, with stones and material raised from the Guaro River.
It measures 9.5 meters high and served as a watchtower until 1485.
It had another twin tower a short distance away in the Cerro Agudo, on the road from Benamargosa to Los Romanes, but that one is no longer visible.
The purpose of these towers was to guard the area and watch for possible incursions from the coast.
The tower is nothing extraordinary, but the views from up here are fantastic. La Maroma with Canillas de Aceituno on one side, Comares high on top of a hill on the other side and down inthe valley you canspot Lake Viñuela.
