In autumn 2002 a new building was started, which was built directly below the original power plant. A sum of 17 million euros was invested. The performance was increased by +25% and the annual work capacity by +35%. Three weir fields of the same size and 9 m wide dam the Saalach. Two sets of machines, each with 2.5 MW, produce electricity, and the residual water is discharged via a fish ladder. In 2004 the new plant went into operation.
