The Sösestausee is a reservoir located in the Harz Mountains between Osterode, Lerbach and Riefensbeek-Kamschlacken. The 3 km long and 600 m wide was built between 1928 and 1931 primarily to regulate the flood of the Söse and supplies Bremen and Göttingen with drinking water via a 200 km long water pipe.
