While the Dolziger mansion was only built in the 17th century, relics suggest the existence of an older, presumably medieval manor. Auguste Viktoria von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg was born here in 1858 and became German Empress and Queen of Prussia after her husband Wilhelm II ascended the throne.
