The historic Hausbrücke (the so-called Salzbrücke, formerly belonging to Sachsen-Meiningen) built in 1753 was once the only connection across the Ilm and connected the old Salzstraße and the Saalfeldsche Land.

It was built so that the carters could pass the Ilm even at high tide. The bridge was appropriately covered and the sides closed to protect the animals from overdoing it.

In 1991, this building was extensively renovated and the surroundings redesigned. The bridge was completely demolished, revealing that only the three main girders were still usable. All other wooden parts had rotted away and had to be replaced true to the original. The roof was freshly covered with new historic tiles.

The Hausbrücke is a listed monument as a unique building in the district.
