Imposing town hall with many beautiful details on the outer walls and doors
February 21, 2022
"In 1897 it was decided to build a new town hall. On August 31, 1899, the architect Bruno Seitler in Dresden was commissioned with planning and construction management, who implemented his design for a building in Art Nouveau style and in its current and therefore future-oriented size. Initially only rough plans were available, and the cost estimate amounted to 280,698.91 marks. The very large tower clock with a diameter of three meters, at the time the second largest in Germany after that of the Hamburg town hall, was put into operation on November 6th, 1901. The Ratskeller followed on November 23rd, 1901 From December 18th to 19th, 1901, the town hall was almost completely completed so that people could begin moving in. The meeting room was not completed until May 1902. The official inauguration was on October 2nd, 1902.
Aside from the lively Art Nouveau shapes, the many stained glass windows are impressive and also show motifs from the surrounding area. Likewise the uniquely designed council chamber - made of Nordic pine wood. This applies to the ceiling paintings as well as to the decorations in the gallery or the two seven-meter-long murals on the front sides of the hall.
The listed town hall with its 56 meter high tower can be visited on guided tours. You can also climb the town hall tower up to the surrounding 37.5 meter high viewing gallery, which offers a good view of Waldheim and the Zschopautal." - de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waldheim#Rathaus

Very beautiful town hall, fits well into the beautiful Zschopau valley. It is a real gem. The market square around it also looks attractive.
