The Kriebstein dam, built in the late 1920s, is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in Saxony. The dam was originally planned as flood protection, but is primarily important for electricity generation. It forms the "technical" conclusion of the picturesque Kriebstein reservoir. From the dam, the Zschopau is a free-flowing body of water again.

Hiking

Unfortunately, the photos do not reflect how beautiful it is there. A wonderful place to walk and swim. The dam is not exactly around the corner from me, but I am still drawn here several times a year. It is also worthwhile for a camping weekend. There is also a tree house hotel there, which has a unique charm. Totally beautiful for nature lovers. Incidentally, the dam was among the 5 most popular lakes at Tag24 last year. Earned!
