Presumably the cross was set up as a way or field cross. The date of installation is not known. In 1938 it was renewed due to a lightning strike that destroyed the cross. In 1968 it was renovated. In gratitude for his return from World War II, the linden tree was planted near the cross by Matthias Flesch for his nephew Norbert Bastian in 1947. Source: Text information board
