In 1859, the first "Central Station" was opened at this point, together with the cathedral bridge, which created a connection of left and right Rhine routes. In 1894, the station was significantly expanded and built on the old foundation, a new platform hall.From 1953, the station was built in its present form. The modern reception building was opened in 1957.
