Very nicely renovated baroque church from 1749. It stands opposite Röhrsdorf Castle on a hill near the exit to Gorknitz.

In the summer months the church is often open and offers an opportunity to rest z. B. when hiking on the apple circular path.

If we go up to the Röhrsdorfer Kirchberg and into the village church, which was restored inside in 2017, we really step on historical ground. The existence of a church on the Röhrsdorfer Kirchberg is documented as early as 1437. More than 580 years ago, people had their children baptized in this place, said yes and said goodbye to their dead. We still have a testimony from this time in our church today: the smallest of our three bells, the "Anna", named after Jesus' grandmother. This bell was cast in 1518 and weighs around 45 kg.
Röhrsdorf and its church had several owners. One man who had himself immortalized as a life-size relief in the back passage of the church was the knight Rudolph von Neitschütz. Röhrsdorf belonged to him in the middle of the 17th century.
A decisive year for our church was the year 1741, when Röhrsdorf came into the possession of the von Carlowitz family. In 1748 it was decided to demolish the old, small church and build a new, larger church. The church was built at the behest of Carl Adolph von Carlowitz and consecrated as early as 1749 - the year in which Goethe was also born. But Carl Adolph von Carlowitz was no longer able to see the consecration of the church. He died in October 1748 at the age of 64.
The construction of the church cost 1,429 thalers, which corresponds to a current value of around 50,000 euros. The idea of renovating the interior of the late Baroque church was first expressed in December 2014. But it took until April 2017 before the work could begin and be completed in autumn 2017.
