Best Hikes to Geiskopf Blockfield and Summit

Tips

  • From the Geißköpfchen (627 m) on the Dietrichsberg there is a fantastic view of the Rhön with its highest mountain, the Wasserkuppe. You can also see the game of skittles, several cone-shaped volcanic mountains where, according to legend, the giants are said to have played skittles.
A geological feature is the block heap, which has been protected since 1979 and was formed when large basalt columns collapsed.

  • The Geiskopf (626 m above sea level) "also known as the Wölterbütter Köpfchen - is the southeastern secondary summit of the Dietrichsberg. In 1738 it first appeared on a map as the" little Dittersberg ". (Information board)
The view to the east towards Thuringia is slowly growing, which is a shame. The banks at the summit are unfortunately also rotten and decayed. 👎
