Protected Natural Area: Natural Park Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar. A wetland in the north of the Mar Menor where many birds nest and attracts large flocks of flamingos in the autumn that make their crossing to Africa. Part of the park consists of old salt pans (near San Pedro del Pinatar) that were already exploited in Roman times but are still used today.
