The tourist development of the Lilienstein began in the 19th century, when the first mountain restaurant was opened on the summit in 1873 and today a seasonal guesthouse welcomes visitors there. Two ascents lead to the summit: the southern ascent with historic steps from 1708 and the northern ascent, which was built by the mountain innkeeper Karl Friedrich Bergmann in 1900.
