View of the Swiss Alps from Belchen

The most beautiful climb of my Black Forest trip! I came from the Wiedener Eck via the Hohtann, so that the short descent helped to relax in between and then I "only" had to climb the last four kilometers up to the Belchen. First you come to the confusing parking lot of the gondola station and have to overcome 150 meters of nasty gravel around it. Just when I wanted to get angry, the actual Belchen experience was only just beginning: from the barrier, the path meanders uphill through the forest. At 30 degrees one is happy about the shade. Above all, these last kilometers up to the summit are closed to cars - wonderfully quiet and idyllic. The incline is sporty, but manageable, and then even decreases a bit in the middle of the climb. But be careful, the last 1000 meters are tough again, so be sure to save a few grains. When the tree line was reached, I was overwhelmed by the beautiful panorama towards the Swiss Alps - wow! The last right-hand bend plus straight straight on the slope is also a real ramp and also beautiful, you can see the summit and inn in front of you, hear the cowbells ringing and look forward to the break, refreshment and the view.

The view from Belchen is magnificent. If you're lucky and catch a really clear day, you can see the Alpine chain from Mont Blanc to Zugspitze.

The effort of the surprisingly long climb from the valley station to the Belchenhaus is rewarded with a sensational view on nice days. Unfortunately only in the direction north-east-south, for the west and the Vosges you would have to walk all the way to the summit, which is practically impossible with racing bike shoes.
