The Humannplatz had already been provided by James Hobrecht in the zoning plan of 1862 (square E, sub-plan XII). The place was realized about 1903 in the course of increased urban development. Originally, the site was intended primarily as a security area for fire protection, but it was released shortly after its realization due to the pressure of the population as a recreational and playing area. The first horticultural design took place between 1910 and 1912. Around 1935, the design was completed.
