In which seaside resort is it possible to walk from Brazil to California in just five minutes?

In addition to the central town, Schönberg also includes the districts of Neuschönberg and Holm as well as the beach sections Schönberger Strand, California and Brazil.

How the original names of the last two beach sections came about is "passed on" as follows ...

Once a fisherman found a rotten ship plank in the beach sand of the Baltic Sea near his hut, on which it said "California". He took the strange piece of wood home and nailed it to his front door without further ado.
It wasn't long before a competing fisherman who lived close by, but a little further east on the beach, discovered this "flashy" sign on his neighbor's door. "What you can do, I've been able to do for a long time ...", this fisherman may have thought. He immediately reached into his firewood box and picked out a suitable log, on which he carefully brushed the word "Brazil".

From then on his front door was marked with this sign and enviously admired by less creative contemporaries. And so it stayed with this exotic name. Finally, the names of the sections of Schönberg developed from this. The California beach section currently has 426 residents. Brazil only 19 inhabitants.
