Neersen Castle is a castle with a generally accessible park in Neersen, a district of Willich on the Lower Rhine. It is located at an altitude of 44 meters above sea level.

Under Adrian Wilhelm von Virmond, the medieval moated castle was rebuilt from 1661 to 1669 with the then considerable effort of 18,139 Reichstaler and about two million bricks in a three-winged, baroque castle with four corner towers. Despite the dismantling of the medieval fortifications, the castle remained defensible with their apron of trenches and palisades, at an inventory recording in 1765 were still 15 metal cannons and a mortar available.

1706 Damian Hugo was raised by Virmond of Emperor Joseph I to the Imperial Count. In 1720, Ambrosius Franz von Virmond further expanded the castle, so among other things, the middle of the castle was enlarged by a few meters to the courtyard, making room for the staircases was won. With the death of this same Ambrose Francis of Virmond, the family died in 1744 in the male line. His childless widow joined Neersen and Anrath after a long legal battle finally in 1763 for 110,000 guilders back to the Electorate of Cologne, which began a magistrate in Neersen ....
