In 1072 the Grafschaft monastery received the "Zehnten zu Belecke" and acquired property here in 1101. In order to manage the income and property, the monastery built a provost office, which was staffed with 5 to 6 monks and a provost. The old provost house burned down in 1808. The current rectory was rebuilt in 1929. In the former barn from 1858, a kindergarten is now housed, the parish dome with adjoining rooms from 1809 has housed the "City Museum Treasury Propstei" since 1992.
